The Mortal Kombat 1 roster has rumors of new characters in the game as fans anticipate the popular fighting title. Among the playable fighters so far are new versions of the classics from the MK games. They include Johnny Cage, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, Mileena, and Sonya Blade, among others.
However, there will be additional characters in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack. These are guest and Kameo characters which will arrive as DLC after the game’s release date. Among the rumored additions is none other than Homelander, the popular supervillain from The Boys.
Mortal Kombat 1 could include Homelander from The Boys
Speculation continues to swirl about the characters coming to Mortal Kombat 1 (pre-order details) after its release. These fighters would arrive in the Kombat Pack, a DLC available post-launch.
Rumors have hit due to an Amazon Italy listing for the game. It suggests that Homelander from The Boys will join the game along with Peacemaker from the DC Comics Universe and Omni-Man from Invincible.
Along with those star characters, several others are mentioned as add-ons for the Kameo characters: Tremor, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra.
Amazon Italy’s page for the Kollector’s and Premium editions of the game mentions it includes “a Johnny Cage character skin with the appearance of famous actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme.” Per their page, early access arrives on September 14 to play the game with these versions via pre-order.
Homelander is the main supervillain in the comic book series The Boys, which has become a popular series on Amazon Prime featuring superheroes and anti-heroes who exist among mere mortals. The character first appeared in The Boys issue No. 3 in 2006. Actor Antony Starr portrays Homelander in the streaming series.

Confirmed characters for the Mortal Kombat 1 roster
While the above Homelander MK speculation isn’t confirmed, there is confirmation already for many popular characters in the game. However, they have different backstories or identities since they’re from an alternate timeline.
The base roster of MK features reimagined versions of Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Kitana, Kung, Lao, Liu Kang, Mileena, Raiden, Rain, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, Smoke, and Sub-Zero.
While Shang Tsung is shown as part of the base roster for MK 1, it’s important to note that he’s only available as a pre-order bonus with select versions. He’ll be available for purchase to add to the 2023 video game at a later date.
There were also Kameo fighters revealed for the game. They include Cyrax, Frost, Goro, Jax Briggs, Kano, Kung Lao, Scorpion, Sektor, Sonya Blade, Stryker, and Sub-Zero.
Six more fighters and five more Kameo characters will arrive in the planned Kombat Pack DLC.
Mortal Kombat 1’s release date and pre-order details
Fans will get their hands on the reimagined Mortal Kombat 1 video game as of September 19, 2023. It will be available for the Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox Series X/S consoles, and Windows PCs.
